How do I protect myself against cyberattacks and information breaches?
Information is a valuable asset that needs to be protected against cyberattacks and data breaches. Here is our guide to equip you with essential strategies and tips to ensure your information remains protected from cyber threats:

Beware of these typical scams:
Phishing: This is a type of scam that involves tricksters using fake communications to obtain sensitive data.
1. Verify the sender's email address and confirm that the email is coming from a trusted source.
2. Don't click on links or download attachments unless you're certain of the sender's identity and purpose.
3. Spot typos or poor grammar, which is common in phishing scams.
4. Phishing emails often start with a vague “Dear Customer” or similar phrases.
5. Be wary of time-sensitivity threats, often involving artificial urgency, such as warnings of consequences for not acting quickly.

Spear Phishing: A more targeted form of phishing. Attackers craft their deceptive emails to specific individuals or departments.
1. Be cautious of emails or text messages that appear to come from colleagues or executives.
2. If an email from a colleague or executive asks you for sensitive data or to conduct an unusual task, verify the request through a separate communication channel.
3. Attackers can make emails appear as if they are coming from a trusted source. Always double-check the email address.

Social Engineering:A technique used by attackers, leveraging human psychology to manipulate individuals into revealing sensitive information.
1. If someone you don't know is asking for information, be wary. Genuine organizations usually don't ask for sensitive information without prior context.
2. If you receive an unexpected or unusual request, always verify it through a separate communication channel before sharing any information.

Adding layers of protection
MFA: Also known as Multi-Factor Authentication which significantly enhance account safety by requiring more than one form of verification to access an account.
At Tax Advice, we enable MFA for all accounts. It’s activated by default visa email OTP security code.

Safe Web Browsing: Malicious websites pose significant risks, from infecting your device with malware to stealing your personal information.
1. Ensure the website uses HTTPS and displays a padlock icon for security.
2. Avoid clicking on shortened URLs which may lead to unsafe sites.
3. Use a reputable browser and ensure it's always up-to-date to benefit from the latest security features.
4. Avoid unknown or suspicious websites. Stick to known and trusted websites.

Public Wi-Fi: Use with Caution
1. Use a VPNs as this encrypts your data, providing an extra layer of protection when on public networks.
2. Try not to log into accounts that hold sensitive information (e.g., banking or email) when connected to public Wi-Fi.
3. Ensure your devices have the latest security updates and use a strong firewall to protect against potential threats.

Physical Security: Protect Your Devices
1. Always lock your computer when stepping away from your desk, even for a brief period.
2. Avoid leaving your devices unattended in public spaces where they can be easily accessed or stolen.
3. Use strong passwords and encryption to make it harder for anyone to access your device without authorization
What to do when your account gets locked from too many PIN attempts. (MFA)
If you find yourself locked out of your account after maxing out your OTP verification attempts, please email us at office@taxadvice.bg to quickly bring this to our attention.

Tips when receiving your OTP verification codes:

Check Mobile Network Signal:
Ensure that your mobile device has a strong network signal. Weak or no signal may result in delayed or failed OTP delivery.

Update Contact Information:
Make sure your email address linked to your accounts are up-to-date. OTPs are sent to the contact information associated with your account.

Verify Spam Folder:
Check your email spam or junk folder. Sometimes, OTP emails may be filtered there!

Whitelist Sender:
Add the sending email address or phone number to your contacts or whitelist to prevent OTP messages from being marked as spam.

Enable Notifications:
Ensure that notifications for messages and emails are enabled on your device. Sometimes, OTPs may be received but not immediately visible if notifications are turned off.

Clear Message Storage:
Make sure your messaging app or email inbox is not full. Delete unnecessary messages to create space for incoming OTPs!

Avoid Public Wi-Fi for Sensitive Transactions:
When conducting sensitive transactions, avoid using public Wi-Fi, as it may be less secure and could result in delayed or compromised OTP delivery.
